ROADPOL in collaboration with the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS), has successfully hosted a comprehensive workshop aimed at improving urban planning and road safety.
The event, held in July in Riyadh, brought together leading experts and policymakers to address critical issues and solutions in the realm of urban transportation.
Objectives
The workshop was designed to address several key topics among which Integration of Urban Planning and Transportation by emphasizing the essential role they play for enhancing road safety. Another field was Policy Development by highlighting urban planning policies that can contribute to safer road environments. The workshop discussed also on Role Definition – outlining the executive and supportive roles of various agencies responsible for managing road safety in urban settings. The event included rich technology and policy showcase by presenting advanced technologies and successful policies that can enhance urban road networks and overall road safety performance.
Presentations
The event featured a series of insightful lectures from ROADPOL distinguished experts. President Elvira Zsinkai from Hungary delivered a presentation on “The Importance of International Cooperation for Traffic Safety,” stressing the need for cross-border collaboration to address traffic safety challenges.
Jana Peleskova, Head of the ROADPOL Operational Working Group (OPG), discussed “Traffic Flow and Road Safety in Large Cities,” offering valuable insights into managing traffic and ensuring safety in densely populated urban areas.
Istvan Suba, OPG Member, presented on “Crash Prevention in Hungary – Future Generations and Challenges,” highlighting strategies and future goals for reducing traffic accidents in Hungary.
Jochen Heiling, OPG Member from Austria, covered “New Implementations in Favor of Road Safety in Austria,” showcasing recent advancements and their impact on road safety.
Marlena Kostaniak, OPG Member from Poland, introduced “New Rules for the Safety of Pedestrians,” focusing on recent legislative changes aimed at improving pedestrian safety.
