2025 ROADPOL Safety Days to Focus on Safety of Two-Wheelers

  • Post category:News

ROADPOL Safety Days (16-22 September), the flagship annual campaign of the European Roads Policing Network, returns in 2025 with focus on the safety of two-wheelers.

This year’s edition has its special attention on all two-wheeled means of road transportation – including bicycles, motorcycles, mopeds, and scooters, whether powered by carbon, electricity, or muscle. These users remain among the most vulnerable on the road. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the responsibilities both of the riders themselves and also of the drivers of cars, trucks and all other road users who share the road with them.

„Improving safety for two-wheeler users means promoting protective equipment, responsible speed, increased visibility, and above all, mutual respect on the road. This focus reflects an urgent need for all road users to adapt their behaviour and decision makers to adapt infrastructure to the changing dynamics of modern mobility“, says ROADPOL Operational Working Group Chief Jana Peleskova from the Police of the Czezh Republic.

Mission

Supported by the European Commission, ROADPOL Safety Days is run every year within the period of 16-22 September and pursues the goals of Vision Zero – zero deaths on the roads and streets of Europe by year 2050. The campaign’s mission is to reduce the number of daily road fatalities in Europe to zero for at least one single day, demonstrating that by mutual effort and dedication Vision Zero is actually achievable. Through enforcement, education, and public engagement, ROADPOL and its partners work toward this goal with determination and cooperation.

Unity

Every year the campaign invites all sectors of society to take part in this collective mission to make Europe’s roads safer. ROADPOL calls on institutions, government bodies, businesses, NGOs, schools, and universities to support the campaign actively. Everyone can contribute by organising road safety events, workshops, discussions, and public awareness actions. Whether it is through educational activities, public engagement, or targeted enforcement, each initiative strengthens the message that every life matters and every accident is one too many.

Organisations are encouraged to integrate the campaign into their local or national safety efforts and to use their communication channels to promote its messages. ROADPOL also invites all partners and supporters to share their activities widely and consistently use the campaign’s official hashtag: #ZeroMeansLife. This unified message across Europe serves as a reminder that zero fatalities is not just a number but a shared vision.

„ROADPOL Safety Days demonstrate the power of enforcement, cross-border cooperation, and public outreach in shaping safer roads for all. The success of the campaign depends on collective effort. This September, let us reaffirm our commitment to road safety and take action. One day without a road fatality is a milestone. Achieving that day is possible if we all together act as responsible road users“, says Jana Peleskova.

2025 ROADPOL Safety Days is run under the STRIDER III project co-financed by the European Union.
