Polish police officer and ROADPOL Council member Commissioner Grzegorz Rytel was elected ROADPOL Predsident.

During the latest Council meeting held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, ROADPOL – the European Roads Policing Network – elected Rytel to lead the organisation for an upcoming two-year term. Rytel of the Polish Police Headquarters was chosen to succeed outgoing President Elvira Zsinkai of the Hungarian Police.

Experience

Commissioner Rytel brings with him extensive experience in road traffic safety, international cooperation, and the coordination of transnational policing initiatives. He has served for many years in Poland’s National Police Headquarters, specifically in the Traffic Department, where he has overseen a wide array of projects and operational campaigns focused on improving road safety. ROADPOL members recognised Commissioner Rytel’s long-standing commitment to the network’s mission, as well as the active and consistent participation of the Polish Police in ROADPOL’s operations and campaigns over the years. His election reflects the confidence of the membership in his ability to continue building bridges between member states and enhancing operational impact across Europe. Commissioner Rytel’s presidency begins at a time when the network is scaling up its efforts to address key challenges such as speed, distraction, impaired driving, and the use of emerging technologies in traffic enforcement. His leadership is expected to further ROADPOL’s ambition of making Europe’s roads safer for all users.

Ancestry

The outgoing President, Elvira Zsinkai, served from 2022 to 2025 and was instrumental in strengthening ROADPOL’s strategic framework and expanding cooperation with institutional partners. The Council expressed its gratitude for her leadership and dedication to the network’s goals. Zsinkai who was warmly acclaimed by the Council’s members, is to remain at ROADPOL’s Executive Committee as Vice-President of the Network.
