ROADPOL VP Highlights Road Safety at Global Conference

Vice President of ROADPOL, Federica Deledda, represented the network at the 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety, held in Marrakech, Morocco.

The event gathered representatives from 198 countries, with over 2,000 delegates in attendance.

Topic

ROADPOL, its mission, and its operations were highlighted in a panel discussion organized by the World Health Organization and the Global Road Safety Partnership. The panel, titled “Overcoming Obstacles to Effective Road Policing and Speed Management,” focused on strategies to enhance road safety enforcement worldwide.

Appeal

During the panel, Deledda emphasized the critical role of road policing in proactively engaging drivers, deterring illegal behavior, and fostering a culture of compliance. She addressed key challenges faced by law enforcement agencies, such as limited priority for human and financial resources and political disempowerment, and outlined ways to overcome these obstacles to establish a more effective road policing framework.

Meetings

On the sidelines of the conference, Deledda held various fruitful discussions with road safety and police professionals, further strengthening international collaboration in the field of road safety enforcement. Among the dignitaries Deledda had the opportunity to converse with were Morocco’s prime minister Aziz Akhannouch and UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety Jean Todt.
