
A ROADPOL delegation, led by President Elvira Zsinkai, took part in the 2nd High-Level Meeting on Road Policing for Road Safety, held on December 10–11 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The event, which included a session on “Networks and Partnerships for Road Safety,” provided an opportunity for ROADPOL to emphasize the importance of international collaboration in addressing road traffic challenges.
Message
During the session, Mrs. Zsinkai delivered a presentation on the growth of international alliances and networks for road policing and the mechanisms for building collaboration among the international police community. She emphasized the need for robust partnerships between law enforcement agencies across Europe and focused on the importance of inter-agency collaboration to tackle road safety issues effectively.
Mrs. Zsinkai also discussed the need for capacity building within road policing forces, advocating for continuous training to equip officers with modern enforcement tools and techniques. In addition, she participated in a high-level leadership panel where she highlighted the importance of prioritizing and mainstreaming road policing within police agencies. She strongly advocated for investing police resources in areas with the highest potential to save lives.

ROADPOL Vice President Federica Deledda from Italy and ROADPOL Executive Committee member Nicholas Vella from Malta also actively participated in the discussions. Their contributions focused on how police agencies can effectively communicate road crash risks to both decision-makers and the general public, ensuring that road safety remains a priority and that countermeasures are implemented at national and regional levels.
In a separate session, ROADPOL Council member Maja Arsovska-Manov from North Macedonia participated in a discussion aimed at highlighting contemporary road policing practices.
