ROADPOL and Spain’s Guardia Civil have successfully concluded the II International Seminar on Road Accident Prevention and Investigation at its Traffic School in Mérida, held from November 5 to 7.
Тhe seminar brought together representatives from 20 European Union countries, alongside participants from the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS) in Saudi Arabia.
Program
This year’s seminar, conducted entirely in English, offered a comprehensive look into advanced methodologies and technologies used by the Civil Guard Traffic Group in road accident investigation. Attendees explored Spanish road safety legislation from both criminal and administrative perspectives, guided by insights from the Delegate Prosecutor for Road Safety of Extremadura and the Area Manager of the Road Safety Observatory.
Presentations
Experts from Belgium and Finland also delivered presentations, sharing their national approaches to crash investigation, further broadening participants’ understanding of practices across Europe. Fieldwork demonstrations allowed attendees to observe Civil Guard officers in action as they collected and analyzed crash scene data, a crucial step in reconstructing incidents to determine underlying causes.
Significance
The seminar underscored the Civil Guard and ROADPOL joint commitment to excellence in road safety, positioning themselves as benchmarks in Europe for road crash investigation and prevention. Through this annual event, the ROADPOL and Civil Guard reinforce their role as leading influence on best practices in crash investigation, providing valuable insights for police forces across the continent and beyond.
